Day 7: Acireale - Messina

Too long day. We have finally arrived to Messina and I don’t know how. Disbelief again when we recapitulate whole day.

We woke up at the Aci San Antonio above the Acireale at Julia’s. The sun shined and we were ready for ride after the break. Although we got up early we were ready for departure just around 10 because of repacking and constant forgetting things. After long salute, tears and kisses we waved to our dear friends and we promised that we are going to meet again soon.

Our first stop was at the Acireale (we didn’t go too far haha). We stoped at the Kenedy candy shop so we could have ice cream for breakfast. Perfection. Few minutes later, and our hands stuck up to the elbows, we were ready for the beginning of our trip. Standard: Uphill, downhill, uphill, downhill and miraculously without missing the way. We stopped at Giardini - Naxos to soak our feet, and after that at the Tormina for real swim. Yesterday we officially swam in the third Italian sea - Ionian sea. Wonderful warm sea, wild beaches. There we also ate biscuits that Juliana’s mom made for us for the road. The rest of the road is marked with countless rainbows and few downpours. Santa Teresa di Riva brought one falling accident but nothing serious. Twisted pedal and scratched knee didn’t stop us from reaching our goal. Then the tire on the bike that fell decided to deflate about 7 kilometers from our destination and to ruin everything, because it was already 19h at it was getting dark. Luckily, there was train station near and last train for Messina was arriving in half an hour. So here we are now, there in Messina in hotel room, waiting for Monday to repair Momcilo’s bicycle. We came late again for finding the tenting place, but this time we have real excuse.
